What’s as hot as Diet Coke’s 30th anniversary commercial? In the fashion world, it’s most definitely sunglasses. Specs have emerged as the “it” fashion statement of the year, and it’s easier than ever for businesses to jump on the trend—just hand out cool promotional sunglasses.
On catwalks around the globe, sunglasses in all shapes and styles have stolen the spotlight. And whether they’re retro, super-sized, geek-chic, colorful or minimalist, you can get custom sunglasses to capture the trend.

Fashion website Celebrity Red Carpet reports that some of the trendiest eyewear styles are round sunglasses and mirror shades. Different designers are doing the shades a little differently too. At Giles, shades with colorful mirror glass were all the buzz, while at Burberry Prorsum, the sunglasses’ frames coordinated with the mirror color.

For fashionistas who crave edgier styles, protective glasses are trending this year. Michael Kors is doing shades big and red, while Milly by Michelle Smith is opting for transparent eyewear. Interesting, but we say unless you’re a construction worker, steer clear.

If you want to make a big statement, go big with your logo sunglasses. Don’t worry about the shape, either. Rebecca Minkoff is doing rounded two-toned specs, and Marni is doing squarish two-toned sunglasses. Both are bold and eye-catching.

Patterned frames are also totally fresh and new. Stella McCartney offers funky animal-print shades, while Tory Burch goes in a more artsy direction with the frames.
Even if your customers aren’t necessarily style savvy (seriously, could you distinguish between a Marni and a Burberry in a sunglasses lineup?), that’s okay. Promotional sunglasses still make a practical giveaway, especially as springtime approaches.
Give out a style to match one of these trendy shades, and your customers will be fabulously sophisticated and not even know it. Name another custom accessory that can do that.
Promo know-how tip:
Add your logo to a cleaning cloth or the sunglasses case to bump up brand exposure.
