When an organization’s 50th anniversary rolls around, celebration is in order. For California’s Boulder Creek Men’s Club, custom polo shirts were just the way to mark the big occasion. Golfers can always use a great polo to wear on the course, and the shirts are lasting reminders of the club’s milestone anniversary.

The club contacted ePromos for the polos, but one thing was missing: There wasn’t a logo or any artwork.

The custom logo Dan created for the club’s 50th anniversary

That didn’t faze ePromos’ Dan Fradette. Dan, a golfer himself, was confident he could provide not only the perfect polos for the club’s 50th anniversary, but also the perfect logo.

Dan consulted with his client on what he had envisioned for the promotional polo shirts. They talked through some ideas, and then Dan went to work with ePromos’ creative team to develop a logo for Boulder Creek Men’s Club.

He searched for a variety of golf-related logos, and then relayed them to his client to discuss with the club’s committee.

When other companies couldn’t create a logo – or wanted to charge for the service – Dan was there with a creative solution.

Thanks to Dan’s willingness to go the extra mile for his client, the Boulder Creek Men’s Club has some great logo polo shirts to ring in its 50th anniversary. And Dan has the title of ePromos’ first-ever winner of the My Work Matters award.

Dan’s insight:

Dan Fradette

This promotion was a success because … when I first spoke to the client, he knew he wanted some polo shirts, but he didn’t have any kind of artwork or logo. He looked locally to see if anyone could help him create a logo, and he learned that they were either going to charge him or they said they couldn’t help him. I dug in a little deeper and asked him what he was looking for. Being a golfer, I know what’s on a golf shirt. We put our heads together and came up with something great.

The biggest challenge was … trying to narrow down all the ideas. My client was a member on a committee, so when we’d come up with something, he’d have to relay it and get their blessing. Plus, we were on a tight deadline.

It was rewarding because … it was my first apparel order. It was great coming out of training and being able to help a client.

I’m passionate about helping my clients to … meet their expectations. There are hundreds of companies they could choose. I want to be able to meet their expectations.

A promotion is successful when … the client is pleased and the products are warmly met. Anything that can create a buzz is going to reflect positively on the client.

To me, winning the My Work Matters award is … exciting. Being one of the first winners and right out of training is really gratifying.

Dan’s promo wisdom: It’s all about brand recognition – getting your brand out there and making sure that something will resonate.

Meet A Promo Expert At ePromos: Clint VanVickle

Quality. Craftsmanship. Style. It’s what sets the Brera Orologi watch brand apart. Naturally, the brand wanted promotional products that exuded its unique flair. With an upcoming jewelry expo, the brand had a big opportunity to stand out.

ePromos’ Clint VanVickle had just the idea to do it: custom USB drives. But these wouldn’t simply be customized with a logo – these would be custom-designed to look like actual Brera Orologi watches. They would be promotional replicas of the timepieces themselves.

custom USB drive

Clint pitched the idea of custom-molding a 3D image of the watch face on to the flash drives. As with any creative process, there were revisions along the way. Clint worked tirelessly with the client over the course of several weeks (and time zones) to get the custom USBs just right.

On the other side of things, Clint also worked closely with the vendor to confirm design capabilities.

The client was delighted. “Each time a proof was sent, the customer was genuinely pleased and proud to present to her group,” Clint reports. “She was also very pleased to hear that we could make her timeframe work even with all the changes needed.”

The custom USBs were a great success at the expo, allowing Brera Orologi to stand out with a unique giveaway that tied in perfectly with its brand.

Plus, the flash drives were loaded with sales and product information, making them not only distinctive, but functional. The brand was able to relay important information without having to hand over a stack of papers.

Clint’s creativity and consultative conversations with his customer resulted in a promotional giveaway that’s distinctly Brera Orologi.

Clint’s insight:

Clint VanVickle

This promotion was a success because … the client had a great product to represent the shape and design of the USB. And because we talked through her project, we selected a very unique item that would stand out at their event. It was also successful because we started designing the proofs for the order well in advance.

The biggest challenge was … making sure all the intricate parts of our clients design would work for the custom mold. We needed to make some minor changes in response from the decorator. Along with that challenge was the delay in the revision process due to communicating across time zones.

It was rewarding to see … how well the final product turned out. Also the delightful feedback from my customer and my colleagues.

I’m passionate about helping my clients to … achieve their goal of having the most effective product for their projects and making sure their branding looks amazing.

The key to a successful promotion is … determining the right product for the target audience. And a product that will allow the customer to showcase their branding.

To me, winning the My Work Matters award … reaffirms that I have earned the trust of my customers and peers by showing my caring expertise as a promo know-how person.

Clint’s promo wisdom: There are many attributes to being a great Brand Consultant and earning the trust and appreciation of your customers. Listening to their wants and needs, asking great discovery questions, and understanding their business/event/project are the key factors that will ensure a great promotion and a successful project.

Promotional products are a great way to enhance any employee appreciation day. They show your team how much you value their hard work, and they’re lasting reminders of the day’s events.

promotional tote bag

That’s why Lake Sunapee Bank, which offers community banking in the Upper Connecticut River Valley of New Hampshire, came to ePromos. It wanted promotional gifts to show appreciation to employees.

The bank launched its employee appreciation day last year and wanted to mix things up this time around. Previously, each bank branch would randomly fill a goody bag for staffers. This meant that each employee received a hodgepodge of items of different values in their bags: candy, gift cards, lotion, coffee mugs.

It was time-consuming and stress-inducing for staff members to visit all the various branches. (Employee appreciation events are supposed to be fun, right?)

Lake Sunapee Bank needed a creative alternative, and ePromos’ Racquel Williams was just the expert for the job.

Considering that the employee appreciation day took place in the summer, Racquel pitched the quintessential promotional items for the season: boat totes, umbrellas and beach towels. No more random grab bags – employees received the same useful, perfect-for-summer gifts.

The bank was on board and requested samples, ultimately deciding on custom boat totes and towels for the team.

The client couldn’t be happier, stating: “The bags with our logo came out perfect. They are just what we were looking for and the pricing was fantastic.”

Racquel’s insight:

Raquel Williams

This promotion was a success because … the customer loved the overall quality of the items, the imprint on the items, and the overall customer service that my team provided.

The biggest challenge was … coming up with ideas that would WOW my client. I am very happy I succeeded!

It was rewarding to see how … happy my client was after she received the items in the mail. And how thrilled her employees were to receive them.

I’m passionate about helping my clients to … promote their company successfully at their events with the logoed merchandise I was able to sell them. Brand recognition is super important. I love knowing that I helped to create repeat customers.

The key to a successful promotion is … providing the right products for your client’s event/target market.

To me, winning the My Work Matters award is … A good indication that my hard work is paying off!

Racquel’s promo wisdom:  Smile. Your customers will always hear you smiling.
