Here’s a McDonald’s promotion used at the Vancouver Olympics that strikes me as wasteful and unnecessary. A promotional food item would have been a much better option. Apparently, the Russian house was located across the street from a flagship McDonald’s location. In order to get the athletes to stop by (Olympic athletes eat McDonalds?), the fast food chain put together this series of stackable Big Mac boxes that mimic Russian matyroshka dolls. Inside the smallest box was a coupon for free food. I think McDonald’s could have come up with a more eco-friendly promotion to deliver the coupon instead of wasting hundreds of empty boxes.
