When – and When Not – to Give Vodka

Vodka can be an appropriate gift, but not always. If you’re an add agency creating a fun snowman kit as a promotional gift for your clients, I think that’s quite alright. If you’re Vladimir Putin’s United Russia party giving out vodka in an attempt to draw voters in the upcoming election, not quite as appropriate. According to NGO Transparency International this is considered to be more a “bribe” than a “gift.” According to Yelena Panfilova, other holiday bribes included: rucksacks, gloves and even jar lids carrying the United Russia symbol for the many Russians preparing jams for the winter season.
