When Ogilvy was creating a campaign for Cancer Research UK around the time of the UK smoking ban, they started wondering what pubs would do with all their old ashtrays. What they did with them was pretty amazing. They gathered as many as they could, then hired a master glassmaker to turn the ashtrays into vases, which they auctioned off at the Cancer Research UK online shop. This is a great way to raise awareness for lung cancer especially. By my count, that’s probably at least three birds with one stone.
