Pad Printing Made Animated

Pad printing is a way to print on things that aren’t flat, and here’s a little graphic that shows how it works. The pad is the yellow part, and it’s typically a silicone rubber pad. The ink is in the cup, which is the orange part that isn’t moving. The plate is a thin flat piece of metal, and in this animation it has the “F” on it. Here’s how it works:

The “F” is what you’re printing and it’s etched into the plate. The cup runs over the plate, leaving ink in the etched area, but not on the rest of the plate. The pad punches the plate, picking up the ink and then is pressed onto the item that is being printed! (graphic from here)
