Every year there are two sets of Super Bowl championship imprinted team gear long before kickoff – one version for each potential winner. So where is all of that inaccurate Colts championship schwag headed?
Luckily, it’s not headed to the garbage dump. The NFL is one of the leagues that chooses to donate its unused custom apparel to charity. This year, the NFL’s partnership with World Vision means that there are going to be a lot of Haitian earthquake survivors sporting Colts gear in the coming weeks! I’m glad to see it going to people who need it, instead of going to waste.
Last year’s Arizona Cardinals Super Bowl shirts were sent off to El Salvador, and when the New England Patriots had their run for perfection tainted in 2007’s big game, Nicaraguan children were photographed wearing “19-0” shirts shortly after.
